Dr. Robin McGhee, O.D. grew up in Decatur, Georgia and now makes her home in Stone Mountain. She decided to become an optometrist after she had a bad contact lens experience at the age of 13. Over the 25 years she has been in practice she has helped many patients, including a patient who, through a dilated fundus examination, she spotted a suspicious blood vessel. She immediately sent him to the emergency room where he was admitted for emergency surgery on his carotid artery. As a result, the procedure prevented an impending stroke.
Dr. McGhee specializes in Ocular Allergies, Dry Eyes, Anterior Segment Disorders, specialty contact lenses, and Red Eyes. She graduated with a BA in Biology from Fisk University in Nashville, TN and later obtained her BS in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She was appointed to the Georgia Board of Optometry by Governor Roy Barnes in 2002. She has been a member of the American Optometric Association, the National Optometric Association, and the Georgia Optometric Association for over 25 years. Dr. McGhee is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
When not working, Dr. McGhee’s favorite activity includes speaking to high school students about attending college. She enjoys motivating them to realize that attending college is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and one should not be deterred due to monetary or financial reasons.
Dr. McGhee has been married to her husband and best friend -- who she just happened to meet while she was attending Optometry school -- for more than 30 years. They have one daughter, Tyler Comer, who is a practicing attorney in Atlanta, specializing in estate planning.
Dr. McGhee spent 18 years with LensCrafters before joining Walmart Vision Center, where she has been providing care for more than 15 years. She is dedicated to serving her longtime patients and looks forward to welcoming new ones to the Vision Center, where everyone can enjoy quality eye care at a great value.
